The world is SO beautiful and we have an exceptional backyard here in Utah. I LOVE HIKING and would love to share the goodness of the trails with you. People have expressed an interest to come with me as it can be intimidating to do a new trail on your own or with a babe, but also just super nice to share the outdoor experience with someone. So here I share a little of my story, tips for successful hiking with or without a babe in tote, and a tentative list of hikes you can do if you want to join us (Please DO!!! woo woo ) or on your own. Every weekend, I will send out hike ideas for Monday in Utah county and Friday morningin Salt Lake (and of course we can go in between I just want to get in a rhythm and make it easier for you to plan ahead and join us! Also, Nate and I have planned ones we would like to do together on Saturday's like hiking to Emerald Lake. Woo!

Going with other people and the app ALLTRAILS has helped me learn of trails. I have saved all the listed below hikes to my account if ever you want to reference them. My account name is Jennifer Frost Killpack (fancy that). I would recommend downloading the app (free) and you can search any location and it will give you hikes in that area, how long, how steep, loop or out-and-back, potentially pictures and reviews if anyone has shared. There, you can create lists to make it even easier to get out hiking and save hikes that you have done. Talking with other people about their favorites is a fun way to discover more that you may never have discovered like, Lake Amethyst that we plan to do as the summer gets hotter.
Since I was little, I enjoyed hiking with my uncle Jeff, who literally goes for a hike every day. He consistently invited me over the years and helped me be aware many hikes while also helping me feel comfortable with knowing how to be prepared to make any hike a good time. He also taught me that it is ok to not go all the way to the official top or end of the trail, that it if you only have a certain amount of time, just go up for a bit then come back. Hiking became a pleasure, an adventure, an addiction to satisfy, a stress relief, and an avenue to connect with God (because it is hard to not think of Him when you are experiencing so many beautiful things right?!). There are many times I have prayed in my mind while hiking and worked through questions or goals with Him and the mountains, specific trails, have become a sacred place for me.

Now, I have the privilege of being with my babe 24/7, I take her out all the time. I go hiking even more than I did before because I do not have 'homework' or work obligations that made it more difficult to get out. Getting outside with my babe has made a huge difference in helping me feel like I can do this mom- thing and made this time very joyful. This world was created for us and I want my babe to be exposed to the peace, simple complexities, health, and inspiration that comes from being outside, especially out on trails.
