What Kind of YOU?!

October 9, 2017 Lots of thoughts!              Conference was so great! I am excited to study and make plans to change based on invitations offered as I listen to those words. I am SO grateful we can change. Sometimes it can seem overwhelming or something to put off until tomorrow but it is a privilege to change and just the fact that we have the opportunity is a witness of how awesome we are! You are a child of God! Yesterday in church, Bishop Sorensen testified of how Christ commands us to become as a little child. Why? Children are so teachable, willing to change and repent. He shared the example of his son who is 5 that when he says a word wrong, people in the family tell him he said it wrong, and tell him how to say it correctly and each time, Tom Tom is always excited that he now knows how to use that word the right way. But how often we get prideful when correction comes, but wouldn’t it be nice to know things the right way!?  ...

How Breakfast Changed Our Life!

The morning sun was making its way into our kitchen with the smell of warm food filling our home. Sailor kicked her feet with excitement as I lifted her into her high chair and Nate and I took a seat at the table. The fluffy pancakes were removed from the griddle and on to plates where 2 kiwis and grilled zucchini awaited them. Nate handed a little pancake to Sailor, a morning prayer was offered and we all started to fill our tummies. After a few bites, Nate put his hand on my leg and delightedly stated, “I love mornings!”             Can you see this peaceful, rejuvenating setting in your minds eye? Mornings truly are special and one of our favorite parts of the day. Contrast this to the beginning of the year… Nate’s work schedule had him being in Downtown Salt Lake by 7am each day, which meant he left our home in Provo by 6am, which he did not feel like eating that early. The project was long...

Hikin' Hunnies of Utah

Sahalie Falls OR Bonneville Shoreline Provo Monument Valley Utah State Capital Loop Y trail                                                        The world is SO beautiful and we have an exceptional backyard here in Utah. I LOVE HIKING and would love to share the goodness of the trails with you. People have expressed an interest to come with me as it can be intimidating to do a new trail on your own or with a babe, but also just super nice to share the outdoor experience with someone. So here I share a little of my story, tips for successful hiking with or without a babe in tote, and a tentative list of hikes you can do if you want to join us (Please DO!!! woo woo ) or on your own. Every weekend, I will send out hike ideas for Monday in Utah county and Friday morningin Salt Lake (and of course we can go in between...

WHAT KIND OF FATHER IS HEAVENLY FATHER?

Complicated

Cue the Avril Lavigne song,   why you have to go and make things so complicated?   Like seriously, how many times do we have to learn this lesson? I have had to learn it over and over and again very recently. Hopefully you will save yourself some unneeded stress or stagnation in life. Because you are awesome, life gives you things to do that you have never done before, challenges, wonderful opportunities and questions --- so cool you get to experience stuff like that right?! It is way easy to think that our particular situation is harder, that really, the solution or help is just out of reach... too complicated. False! When we are experiencing a challenge, priorities can get messed up, forgotten, or even set aside because a failure to believe that something so simple as praying or being inspired by the scriptures is the solution. False again! Thankfully, the truth is, you and I are extremely loved b...

hold on to me

‘Hooooo-old. Hold on to me, hold onto me…’ is a popular song on the radio currently that I think goes along well with a concept I have been thinking of a lot since my dear Sailor girl came. Do you have something you LOVE? Like love love love it, totally passionate about it, crazy about, that you hold dear in your life? You have given so much time to and it means a lot to you? When you talk to others about it or share it with them, you can’t help but smile and you are refreshed after having the opportunity to spend time doing, developing, sharing this something? I think we all do and finding out that thing with each other can help each of us connect, feel valued and important, and strengthen relationships. The something I get to physically hold, think, plan my day around is my Sailor Rae of sunshine. The first 2 months of Sailor’s life were very stressful for me. Like with any new experience, I had some (a lot a lot ) of learning to do as a new mom that I totally didn’t understand...
